To The Birds 04:34
I promise to listen to you Like I listen to the birds Never a note out of place Only wonder I promise to listen to you I will walk by your side Like I walk in the wilderness Every step a prayer Full of wonder I will walk by your side Oh, you are the one I’ve waited for My greatest love Waiting inside me all along Just beyond the open door I know your heart can be a storm Light and shadow, changing skies So when I look to you And hear your thunder I’ll listen like I listen To the birds Oh, love
2.
Leaving 02:46
The rose-colored lenses of leaving Altering my view Every morning a sunrise At dusk a brand new moon I see my future in strangers A rose that’s yet to bloom I see a home, love and family Oh could it be you? I’m leaving Leaving I swallowed a rose for the keeping Petal, thorn and root I swallowed the rose of my leaving And sing it now for you
3.
Dive In 02:53
Dive in, dive in The water’s cold, the water’s cold I know, I know What you hold You carry such a heavy load Climb on, climb on The summit’s near, the summit’s near Look out, look out Across the air He’s close, you can feel him there Dive in Dive in Dive in Dive in
4.
Forgiveness 03:27
I heard the other day that your father died I hadn’t thought of him in quite some time But I’ve thought of you every once in a while, now You’re on mind Where are you living now, is it far from home? Have you found yourself another love to call your own? Does she hold you close when the grief is strong, now You’re on my mind Old love New forgiveness I recall the days we spent in the Alaskan cold Your father standing at the bow of that little boat The rise and the fall and his eyes all aglow, now You’re on my mind
5.
Tight Shut 03:37
I am old and young again Half and whole And empty space To breathe into Have I struck gold in the coming down? Or none at all Just a fool’s trust In song and sound Oh your love, like the morning dew Green and gold When the sun shines through I have built a wall It burns red hot Every time I keep my heart Tight shut
6.
Undoing 03:16
Ten years ago How could I have known That you would be my undoing? All the ropes you pulled Burned the hope I held And you would be my undoing Masquerade Master, manipulate Fault or fate? Ten years ago You would be my undoing
7.
Circle/Free 03:29
Pen to paper Pull it round Pull it round Lines and letters Black and white Make no sound Sound Sound They drew a circle In your heart In your heart Left it open To the light And the dark The dark When love goes You’ll lay down the stones Along they line they pulled The circle now a hole Build a well And cover it with moss Softening the loss Close the circle With your pen With your pen Let the ink dry Black and white In the end And pull the water From the well Cool and clear You’ll wash until You’re free You’re free
8.
Lost 05:05
Lost, lost Feather in a storm The collared dove her home Feather in a storm Lost Lost, lost The collared dove she calls Her early morning song The collared dove she calls Lost Lost, lost The morning comes again Another day begins The morning comes again Lost Lost, lost Today I walk alone Find a feather on the ground Today I walk alone Lost Lost, lost Feather in a storm The collared dove her home Feather in a storm Lost …

about

"Free" is a collection of songs that explores the cycles, spirals and circles of life, death, love and nature. Each one is an invitation, a doorway, to a world outside of binary thinking – a world full of nuance, magic, tension, and a full spectrum of color.

Gratitude

To my crowdfunding contributors, this project would not have been possible without your generous and enthusiastic support. Thank you for believing in me and in my music, for helping me achieve my dream of pressing vinyl, and for reminding just how vast my community is. I’m more grateful than words could ever express.

To my transatlantic support system – especially Julia, Alle, Meryl, Colleen, Cindy, John, Tom and the Camberville crew on the US side, and Camy, Chris, Josh, Neil, Jenni, and the Wee Pub crew in the UK – thank you for your encouragement, love, and very necessary hydration reminders.

To the trio of artists who made the visuals of this project possible - Karo, Liz and Bethany. Thank you for taking my vision and bringing it to life with such grace and magic. Working with you three has been a dream!

To my family – especially my parents – for everything.

To Evan and Mikay – I am in awe of the heart, hard work and brilliance you poured into this project - this album is as much yours as it is mine. Thank you for your friendship and your love, for being with me every step of the way, for always knowing how to make me laugh, and for believing in the songs when I couldn’t.

And finally, to Apple Rob – this one’s for you.
